Hello!

Nature photography is my specialty and living in Colorado gives me the opportunity to photograph the wildlife and scenery that the Rocky Mountain West is famous for.  As 3rd generation Coloradans, Janet and I have unique knowledge of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West, which allows me to photograph not  only the familiar areas, but also the “back roads” where a lot of my best images have been taken. I really do have to give credit to my wife who has a keen eye for spotting wildlife. Without her help I would not have some of the spectacular wildlife images that I have taken.

Photography is my passion, but at my “day job” I am the Fire Chief for the City of Lafayette, Colorado. I started out as a volunteer firefighter in 1975 and became the career fire chief in 2001. My formal training in photography started over 40 years ago in Boulder Colorado at the Boulder Tech Center. I spent two years training in the Graphic Communications and Applied Arts program (graphic arts and commercial photography). In 1975 my wife Janet and I started Morrell Printing Solutions in Lafayette, Colorado. Janet, along with my four adult children, have been run the business since I “retired” from the family business and went to work for the Fire Department full time.
